Hi! I love what I do and I think I have the best job in the world. I became passionate about health and fitness early in my life while running track and racing triathlons. I began studying everything there was to know about training and racing. I graduated with honors from Miami University with a B.S. in Health and Sport Studies. In the 25+ years I've spent working in the health and fitness field, I have been able to use my education and experience to help a wide variety of individuals in their quest for fitness.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with some incredible organizations. I've served as a YMCA Health and Fitness Director, a Gold's Gym Fitness and Nutrition Program Director, and a Fitness Coordinator for the US Navy. Additionally, my time treating injuries alongside pre- and post-surgery patients in a physical therapy clinic gave me a deep understanding of injury prevention. While holding numerous certifications has allowed me to teach a variety of fitness and nutrition classes and train the next generation of fitness leaders, my true passion lies in programming for endurance athletes. To bring the absolute best methodology to my athletes I coach, I became an IRONMAN U Certified Coach, combining my lifetime of industry experience with specialized endurance expertise.
As an endurance athlete, I like to practice what I preach. I have run competitively at distances ranging from 5ks to ultra marathons and have competed every triathlon distance from sprints to full IRONMAN events. Along the way, I've been fortunate to earn numerous overall and age-group accolades, competing at the world and national level for triathlon and the national level for collegiate cycling.
My racing journey includes qualifying for the IRONMAN World Championships and multiple IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships, landing on IRONMAN & IRONMAN 70.3 podiums, earning IRONMAN Gold, Silver & Bronze All World Athlete status countless times, achieving USAT All-American Honors multiple times, and racing several times in both Age Group Triathlon National Championships and the Boston Marathon. Beyong racing, I contribute running and triathlon articles to Active.com and IRONMAN University (check out some features in the sidebar).
After 9 years coaching high school cross country, I transitioned full-time to guiding adult runners and triathletes. Today, I use this lifetime of competitive experience to coach across the entire performance spectrum from first-timers taking their very first athletic steps, to time-starved professionals optimizing tight schedules, to masters athletes defying age, and world championship contenders chasing podiums. No matter where you are in your journey, I build the exact framework to help you achieve your goals.
