Hi! I love what I do and I think I have the best job in the world. I became passionate about health and fitness early in my life while running track and racing triathlons. I began studying everything there was to know about training and racing. I graduated with honors from Miami University with a B.S. in Health and Sport Studies. In the 20+ years I've spent working in the health and fitness field, I have been able to use my education and experience to help a wide varity of individuals in their quest for fitness.
I have had incredible experiences working at some amazing places! I've been a YMCA Health and Fitness Director, a Gold's Gym Fitness and Nutrition Program Director, and a Fitness Coordinator for the US Navy. In addition, my time working with pre and post surgery patients in a physical therapy clinic allowed me the chance to treat many types of injuries. Holding numerous certifications has enabled me to teach a variety of fitness and nutrition classes as well as train others to become fitness leaders in the field. However I enjoy writing fitness programs for endurance athletes the most. I decided to become an IRONMAN Certified Coach to further enhance my knowledge of working with endurance athletes.
I have run competitively at a wide range of distances from 5ks to ultra marathons. I have raced every triathlon distance from sprint distance to IRONMAN distance. I've been fortunate to earn many overall and age group awards and have competed at the national level for both collegiate cycling & triathlon. I earned IRONMAN Gold and Silver All World Athlete status, USAT All American Honors, have placed first in my age group for the Virginia Triathlon Series end of season rankings, have qualified for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships, and have competed multiple times in both Age Group Triathlon National Championships and the Boston Marathon. In addition, I contribute running and triathlon articles for Active.com and have been featured in Active.com (check it out on the sidebar). Finally, when I am not coaching adult runners and triathletes, I spend my time coaching high school cross country.
